Accessing Compost in Winter

Any gardener with an active compost pile tends to find never-ending (and nearly year-round) uses for the end product. But in the cold of winter, it can often be difficult to remove frozen compost.  If you have a large enough pile, one trick is to dig into the pile past the frost line, so that you can access and remove unfrozen compost from the center.
